By all accounts, it would appear Amanda Korkis, customer service representative for Oakland Schools’ Production Printing & Graphics, is in the right field of work.
“Making people happy makes me happy,” she states simply when asked to describe her job.
Many Oakland Schools employees have used Production Printing & Graphics for some part of their job but, for those who haven’t, the facility, better known to OS workers as PP&G (located at the Summit Campus), provides quality printing and digital imaging for Oakland Schools, the 28 districts it serves and other local entitles, such as Oakland County government.
So for those who have had to place an order with PP&G in the last seven years, that means you have, without a doubt, interacted with Korkis. Korkis is in charge of orchestrating all of the orders – and there are approximately 7,000 of them annually – that come through PP&G. She catalogs the orders, which come through PP&G’s digital storefront or via fax, phone or email, and assigns them to one of the other employees on the design side of PP&G’s production team. She is also responsible for overseeing all purchase orders, billing and outsourcing services.
“Amanda is an outstanding representative for PP&G and Oakland Schools,” said Kevin Miller, who oversees PP&G. “She handles even the most difficult customers skillfully and offers expert guidance to all customers, no matter their level of printing knowledge. Amanda is welcoming, cheerful and positive and customers love to work with her.”
Korkis attributes her ease with multitasking to the fact she has a very thorough background in printing and graphics. Prior to PP&G, she worked for FedEx Office where each employee was responsible for knowing the entire printing process from beginning to end. She said it is from that experience she is often able to guide customers who come to PP&G looking for assistance on projects.
“I help customers all day. Some know what they want, but they don’t know how to explain it,” she said. “Because I have the knowledge and experience with printing, it has been a huge help. I enjoy talking to customers and educating them.”
When she isn’t working at PP&G, Korkis is likely spending her time with family.
“I am a very family-oriented person,” she said, adding it is an absolute “must” to see her family members a couple of times a week. “As long as we are all hanging out together, it doesn’t really matter what we are doing.”
Korkis said the goal of PP&G is to make sure each customer who interacts with the company is pleased with their experience.
“I’ve had a good day when I know all of my customers are happy,” she said. “Then my day is complete.”
