Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens in theaters around the world today, giving all of us on social media an opportunity to massively trend-jack the hype centering on this movie’s long-awaited premiere.
“May The Force Be With You” – possibly the most powerful movie quote of modern time – has been waiting to re-emerge (along with the original Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia and their much younger incarnations), to energize a whole NEW population of lightsaber-wielding evil-slayers.
When channeled properly, THE FORCE is able to subdue rogue alien nations; more incredibly, it’s been able to cultivate an intergenerational Jedi marketing frenzy of mythic proportions.
Jedi Master Obi-Wan ‘Ben’ Kenobi nobly explained the Force as an essential ingredient to…well, everything!
Nice, Mr. Kenobi, but I can explain the Force in one word…
SPOILER ALERT to Star Wars fans worldwide: The Force is simply sci-fi space code for “Love”.
Yes, Jedi friends, LOVE. It just doesn’t get more universal or unifying or SIMPLE than that.
It’s where all of us get our super powers.
It’s how we fight dark stars.
It’s why parents work to light the world for their children and their children’s children.
And it’s how educators dodge meteor fields of school budget cuts and duel virtually with ed reform raiders.
Love is the real-life force that fuels children’s advocates after they leave their Target lightsabers and empty popcorn boxes at Emagine or MJR or AMC 30.
Because who needs special effects? A Jedi’s real weapon is education.
Dr. Wanda Cook-Robinson, superintendent of Oakland Schools, recently talked with Dr. Arina Bokas, TV host of The Future of Learning about the need to be out-in-front, paving the way for new learning adventures, experiences and innovation.
“At one time we were preparing students to take jobs here in the U.S. to help to boost our workforce,” said Dr. Cook-Robinson. “Today we are preparing them to help globally, to move this entire world, planet, economy and community forward.”
Worthy effort for our galaxy, and for all true warriors who rally daily in defense of children, families and our shared future.
May the F♥rce be with us all.
