OSTC-NE Health Science Students Volunteer at the “Oakland County Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk”
On the very chilly Saturday, October 13th, ten OSTC-NE Health Science students took time off of work and out of their weekend to represent Oakland Schools at the Oakland County Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk at Oakland University in Auburn Hills. Making Strides is a powerful and inspiring community event that not only honors breast cancer survivors, but helps to raise the money and public awareness needed to defeat the disease.
The students arrived at Oakland University at 8:00 AM and helped prepare for the walkers by setting up tents; at 10:00 AM the walk began and they worked the 1 mile water station. When the event concluded at 1:30 PM the OSTC students attended the awards ceremony honoring the walkers, and shared their support with the participants and other volunteers who made the day both memorable and successful.
