Paul Galbenski, Michigan Teacher of the Year 2011-2012, is a Career & Technical Education Instructor at Oakland Schools Technical Campus-SE. He is also a recent graduate of SPACE CAMP, which allows him to add “honorary astronaut” to his teaching CV…
Paul has had an amazing year as Michigan’s teacher representative. He’s met the president, chatted up Bill Gates, and now, at International Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama, Paul can claim that he landed the Space Shuttle. Galbenski is the first Career & Technical Education (CTE) teacher ever to be awarded the prestigious “Michigan Teacher of the Year” honor, and he has dedicated his time in the MTOY spotlight to helping legislators, administrators and parents understand that CTE is a “hidden jewel” and an unbelievable opportunity for high school students.
Paul works closely with CTE colleagues Mike Waters and Mike Mayville in the Business, Management, Marketing & Technology Cluster at Royal Oak’s OSTC campus.
“We’re doing what needs to be done to get students a job and into the college classroom,” Galbenski recently told local C & G Staff Writer, Chris Jackett. “Career & Technical Ed is the best kept secret in Oakland County.”
